چکیده
An integrated approach of remote sensing, geographic information system and multicriteria decision analysis analytical hierarchical process (AHP) were applied to delineate groundwater potential (GWP) zones in Andasa-Tul watershed, Upper Blue Nile Basin, Ethiopia with an area 1872 km2. Nine GWP influencing thematic layers comprising lithology, lineament density, geomorphology, slope, soil, drainage land use/land cover, rainfall depth level prepared from conventional satellite data used. The classes within them given scale values based on literature experts’ by using Satty’s AHP. have been via their weights/rates weighted overlay spatial function tool ArcGIS provide map. result shows that map comprises 250.8 km2 (13.4%) very good, 132.9 (7.1%) 441.8 (23.6%) moderate, 662.7 (35.4%) poor 383.8 (20.5%) zones. Validation the existing boreholes springs yield 83.8% agreement indicating good accuracy method. removal sensitivity reveals is more sensitive lithology (mean variation index, 1.92%) less geomorphology 0.59%). Similarly, single layer analysis, slope are found be effective parameters, whereas variables. generated study region can used as important guideline for locating areas further exploration, planning management resources.

Impact of Climate Change on Runoff in the Gilgel Abbay Watershed, the Upper Blue Nile Basin, Ethiopia
Hydrological assessment is critical to the successful implementation of adaption measures. In this study, projections of seven global circulation models (GCMs) associated with high and medium–low Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP 8.5 and RCP 4.5) for the period 2021–2040 and 2081–2100 were adopted to assess changes on runoffs in the Gilgel Abbay watershed, the upper Blue Nile basin. A ...

متن کاملLand-Use Change Modelling in the Upper Blue Nile Basin
Land-use and land-cover changes are driving unprecedented changes in ecosystems and environmental processes at different scales. This study was aimed at identifying the potential land-use drivers in the Jedeb catchment of the Abbay basin by combining statistical analysis, field investigation and remote sensing. To do so, a land-use change model was calibrated and evaluated using the SITE (SImul...

Climate change is likely to have severe effects on water availability in Ethiopia. The aim of the present study was to assess the impact of climate change on the Gilgel Abay River, Upper Blue Nile Basin. The Statistical Downscaling Tool (SDSM) was used to downscale the HadCM3 (Hadley centre Climate Model 3) Global Circulation Model (GCM) scenario data into finer scale resolution. The Soil and W...
